Goal

Keep your service up as long as possible and make lots of pretend money.

Proxmox Instructions

In the proxmox Web interface, do the following:

1. Datacenter → Permissions → API Tokens → Add
   • User: root@pam
   • Token ID: labcheck
   • Untick “Privilege Separation” so the token inherits the user’s permissions. (If you leave it ticked you must grant permissions to the token itself in step 3, using the full token name.)
   • Press Add and copy the secret now — Proxmox shows it exactly once.
   • Also copy the Token ID
2. Datacenter → Permissions → Add → User Permission
   • Path: /
   • User: root@pam!labcheck
   • Role: PVEAdmin
   • Propagate: ticked

The secret is the UUID shown when the token was created.

VM Instructions

On two of your Linux clones (pokemon), install the instructor’s public key

sudo useradd -m -s /bin/bash labcheck
sudo install -d -m 700 -o labcheck -g labcheck /home/labcheck/.ssh
# paste the instructor's public key on the next line
sudo tee /home/labcheck/.ssh/authorized_keys >/dev/null <<'KEY'
